As some California schools start to re-open, there are many schools who may be teaching in a virtual learning environment for months to come.

Teaching a yearbook class remotely can present certain challenges. Does your yearbook staff normally use a desktop software that is only available on school computers? How can you check student work and progress if you aren’t able to physically monitor performance? What content will go into the yearbook if events and sports are cancelled or postponed indefinitely? Not to worry! Through our EdOnline software, LiNK website, and online tools — Entourage Yearbooks has made designing your yearbook possible, during a year where a lot may feel impossible.

Virtual Curriculum

Entourage has created a Virtual Curriculum for instructing your yearbook class. Teaching virtually is no easy task! That’s why we’ve worked with some of our most experienced advisors to create a how-to guide on teaching/learning yearbook from a home setting. You can access the downloadable information here:

Monitoring Progress

In addition to the Virtual Curriculum, our EdOnline software makes it easy to keep your project on track. Easily set tasks along with due dates to ensure students keep up with deadlines. As an advisor, you can also view an online account activity log to monitor progress. Check which students have accessed your yearbook project and how much time they have spent in the program designing their pages. This can be super helpful in making sure work is being done on your project!

Get Your Community Involved!

The content of your yearbook may look pretty different this year, depending on when your school is physically back in session. Entourage’s LiNK site allows you to get your community involved! Allow parents and students to upload photos and videos that can be used in the yearbook project. Some of our schools have requested photos of:

  • Summer vacations and stay-cations
  • Favorite social distanced hobbies
  • New family traditions
  • Heroes in the community and their stories
  • Virtual spirit week photos

Even though things might be different this year, you can still keep your pages filled with interesting and engaging content. Be sure to look out for future blog posts! We will be detailing even more ideas for how you can put a unique spin on the different sections of your yearbook.

Live Chat

If staff members come across any questions as they are working on the project, we offer virtual assistance via our Live Chat support team. Your yearbook committee can chat with a live representative who will be available from 9 am-9 pm EST to assist. Working outside of these hours? You can still send us a message and a representative will respond within 24 hours of your request. We make sure you are never alone or feel lost when working on your yearbook project.

With some creativity and modifications, you can still deliver a yearbook filled with precious memories to your students this year. Even with activities and events canceled, this is a historic school year that deserves to be documented. With a virtual learning environment, what better way to put a personal touch on the book than to include more about your students and their families or local heroes? The sky is the limit when it comes to your design for 2020-2021! Make an impression!
